This place is called “Shirakawa-go”, and its located in Gifu prefecture.
Don’ know Gifu?
It is located almost center of Japanese map in Honshu island.
Gifu is one of the quiet prefecture, Japanese people think it is very nice to place to live after their retirement because it is full of nature with clear water.
You can enjoy river fishing, rafting, rock climbing, trekking, camping and more!
There are not many foreigners visiting Gifu except this place Shirakawa-go.

Shirakawa-go is a small village with several traditional Japanese house.
This type of Traditional house is build by Thatched roof and woods only, it is actually not allowed to build a new one like this anywhere in Japan anymore because of Japanese law.
So the people in this village are trying every year to maintain this limited houses.
You can actually stay there and experience the old days in Japan.
They have fire inside the house, people gather together to have dinner. I am sure you will have unforgettable memories and feel the real Japanese life.
In winter, Shirakawa-go have illumination event, so that you can see fantastic houses in white snow and its small light on them.
